Who is Jim Sparks?

Jim Sparks is a Missouri native, born in the city of St. Louis and raised in the city of Maplewood. Jim attended Clayton High School, where his formal photography education began in 1986 with the purchase of a Canon EOS 650 35mm setup from “O.J. Photo” in Clayton, Missouri. After graduation from CHS in 1990, Jim continued his photography training at Webster University in St. Louis, focusing on photographic technique and photojournalism.

Since 1992 Jim has explored a wide range of photography genres, subjects and styles. Portrait photography, pet photography, automotive photography, product and marketing photography and scenic landscape photography from our nation’s National Parks represent the mainstay of Jim’s collection.

In addition to more than two decades of hands on shooting experience, Jim also has more than 5 years of retail and commercial photo lab experience and photographic equipment consulting and retail sales. This experience gives him additional insight into what it takes to create a high quality print in a photo lab in addition to creating vibrant “screen-ready” images using the latest software from Adobe and Canon.

Today, Jim Sparks lives in Imperial, a suburb of St. Louis, located in Jefferson County, Missouri. Jim provides a wide range of photography services, including on-location photography and creative studio photography. Jim offers creative professional photography for all kinds of subject matter including scenic and landscape imagery, architecture and home interiors, automotive and motorcycle photography, photojournalism and event coverage, photography for musicians and bands and much more. Today Jim shoots completely digital using professional gear from Canon, including the Canon EOS 1D Mark III and a series of Canon L-Series lenses.
